Who We Are

SustainGroup started in 2016 with the launch of SustainPower, a South African company focused on gas-to-power systems. These units were designed to provide reliable energy using biogas, landfill gas, and natural gas, especially where grid power was unreliable or unavailable. Each system is built locally using high-quality components, with performance tailored for African conditions.

In 2018, we expanded with the creation of SustainSolar, offering containerised solar and battery storage systems. These plug-and-play units bring clean power to off-grid communities, health facilities, commercial sites, and mini-grids. SustainSolar systems have now been deployed in over 18 countries, helping expand energy access across Africa.

Over time, SustainGroup grew into more than just an equipment supplier. We now offer complete energy solutions that cover design, manufacturing, logistics, installation, and long-term operations. In under nine years, we delivered more than 100 systems across more than half of sub-Saharan Africa, helping clients reduce costs, improve reliability, and transition to cleaner energy.

As of 2024, Valinor, a Norwegian investment company focused on sustainability, became a major shareholder in SustainGroup. Their support strengthens our ability to scale, innovate, and serve more partners across the continent.

Today, SustainGroup brings together the strengths of SustainPower and SustainSolar under one unified brand. We continue to focus on clean energy solutions that deliver results in the toughest conditions.
